“The ‘gods’ know nothing, they understand nothing. They walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken." (Psalm 82:5 NIV)
The gods know nothing. So, isn't it about time to turn from our false gods and turn toward God, who does? I don't know how many times I have heard people say, "I believe." But, what is it that you believe? In whom do you trust? Are you waiting for the big pay-off at the casino or the lottery? Is a machine your god? If that's where you are putting your hope, then that is your god. You have a party planned for this week-end. A little fooling around? A lot of drinking or drugs? Well, then that is your god. Whatever it is that you put your trust or your hope in, wherever your heart is that is your god. If you should say, "I trust no one, nothing, but myself," then you are you own god. Can you save yourself? Are you really happy trusting in these gods that know nothing? That are nothing? That have and can give you nothing, but the earth shaking heartaches that accompany the darkness?
Turn to the Lord, our God. He will judge the earth and all the false gods in it. Get out of the darkness and live in the light of God's love for you.
